The group will be supported by members of the Foundation team as well as Stadium Announcer and qualified running coach Jay Drackford who is delighted with the launch of the club:
We’ve already got 27 people in the group sharing runs and other activity that they’re getting up to whilst we’re in lock down. It’s been great to see everyone supporting each other and between them, they’ve already racked up 137 km worth of activity
Foundation Healthy Lifestyles Manager, Hannah Marsh added:
It’s been amazing to see how many people are out each day and exercising their way through this period of lock down. The running club is a way to give people that sense of community and feeling part of something whilst taking part in an individual activity and it’s great to see people really getting into the habit of exercise
The long term plan for the club is to organise opportunities to put their hard work to good use and give people the opportunity to take part in races or events to fundraise money to support work that the Foundation is doing in other parts of the local community with the Community Kitchen, Upfront Team and other projects earmarked for initial support.
