Over the past few weeks, the Stevenage Football Club and Stevenage FC Foundation Winter Donation Drop Zone has been collecting food and toys from generous members of the community to go out to local causes…
The process was completed on Thursday as the Stevenage FC Foundation team delivered over £500 worth of toy donations to the Children’s Ward at Lister Hospital, in addition to £400 of Smyths Toy Store vouchers, kindly donated by the Men’s & Women’s players for extra toys to be purchased in the New Year.
“We are so happy to be able to continue to support Lister Hospital thanks to the generosity of the Club’s fans and our community who have given so generously to the Donation Drop Zone,” Foundation CEO Joe Goude said. “The additional donation from both the men’s and women’s teams added to an amazing donation that we hope will go some way to make the Christmas period a little brighter for staff, patients and families at Lister in the coming weeks.”
The Christmas Donation came nearly nine months after the first round of sandwiches were delivered to the hospital, as part of the Coronavirus Community Careline during Lockdown 1. As well as the donated toys, 500 Foundation Activity Packs were also delivered to the Children’s and Elderly Care Wards.
The final stage of delivery is being finalised today, as food items and essential non-food items that were donated to the Drop Zone are being sent to Stevenage Vineyard Food Shed. Donations from St Margeret Clitherow School and Stevenage Starlets are also being collected and delivered by the Stevenage FC Foundation Team.
