In July 2021, Stevenage FC Foundation launched its brand-new strategy for 2021-24. We planned to tackle 4 key areas to better improve our links within the community. Part of this was through tackling rising unemployment in Hertfordshire by creating new positions within the foundation through apprenticeships, traineeships and the newly implemented Kickstart scheme.
The Kickstart scheme offers six month job placements to young people who receive Universal Credit, to help them develop skills that will increase their chances of employment. Since July we have taken on 8 members of staff through the scheme, with further interviews currently taking place for 3 additional positions.
4 months on from our initial round of recruitment, we interviewed AJ, Manny, James and Megan, who are all on the scheme and members of the senior foundation team to find out more about their experiences.
