Stevenage FC Foundation are pleased to announce that Steve McQueen has been appointed as the new Chair of Trustees. Steve has been a member of the Foundation board since 2012 and was previous Vice-Chair to Roger Gochin, who stepped down in April.
Until his recent retirement, Steve worked as a Commercial Relationship Director for Lloyds Bank based in Stevenage, with 41 years banking experience with the firm. Steve managed a portfolio of over 50 local SME clients with turnovers between £10m – £25m including three large nation charities.
Having always had a passion for supporting the community, Steve also has a presence on the board of other Hertfordshire based charities including Hertfordshire Independent Living Services (HILS) and Stevenage Community Trust.
Upon his appointment, Steve said:
“I’m extremely proud and excited to be given this opportunity. I take over as Chair of Trustees at a time when the Foundation is in a strong position with ambitious growth plans.
Our focus will be on supporting Joe as CEO and his incredible team as they successfully deliver the Foundation’s 3 year “Aspire-Empower-Thrive” strategy.
We will continue to deliver our quality programmes and deepen our relationship both with key local partners, and with Stevenage Football Club, working closely together whilst promoting the club at every opportunity.
Through our vision of a community where all live an active, healthy and positive life the Foundation has a strong history of positively changing the lives of many in the local community and as such I’m honoured to be a part of its success.”
