Stevenage FC Foundation launch ‘Extra Time Hub’ for retired and semi-retired people in the community.
On Tuesday 18th October 2022, Stevenage FC Foundation in partnership with the EFL Trust launched an ‘Extra Time Hub’ for people who are retired or semi-retired, to come together and enjoy activities with like-minded people in the community.
Based at the Oval Community Centre in Stevenage, the session aims to build a community of people to help them enjoy their retirement years and maximise the positive changes in getting older. Maintaining friendships and being socially active are important parts of healthy, happy ageing and the Extra Time Hub provides the opportunity to socialise, form new friendships and take part in enjoyable activities that are based upon what individuals want to do. Activities vary from quizzes, music, games such as Boccia, New Age Kurling, Pilates, Strength and Balance or just a chat and a warm drink.
The sessions run every other week in the main hall at the Oval Community Centre. It is free for participants to attend and includes warm drinks and snacks. There is free parking on site, or good transport links from around the town with bus stops from SB2, SB4 and SB7 buses directly outside the venue.
The Extra Time Hub will run on the following dates:
