Nutrition & Hydration Week is taking place between Monday 14th and Sunday 20th March. It is an annual event with a shared objective to highlight, promote and celebrate improvements in the provision of nutrition and hydration locally, nationally and globally. The purpose of the week is to bring people together to highlight the value of food and drink in maintaining health and wellbeing in social care.
“With around 3 million people at risk of malnutrition in the UK, we need to engage opportunities to raise the awareness of the risks and promote the good practices that can help prevent malnutrition and dehydration”
Age UK
The highlight of the week is the Global Tea Party, where social and health care providers serve afternoon tea as a way of raising awareness of the importance of nutrition and hydration, as well as allowing people to come together and feel good. You can share your photos of what you bake on social media using the hashtag #NHW2022.
Anyone who wants to can take part in activities throughout the week, and there is a whole host of resources available on the Nutrition & Hydration Week website. There is also a handbook full of ideas, practical tips and advice on how you can make the most out of the week.
