National Writing Day is taking place on Thursday 23rd June 2022. It is an annual celebration of creative writing for children and young people provided by a number of literacy organisations and led by First Story.
Creative writing is important for children and young people, because it helps to boost their imagination. When you’re stimulating your brain to think outside the box, you’ll be better suited to discovering alternative solutions to problems and look at them from a different angle and children will learn to be more innovative. Each year there is a new themed writing challenge for young writers to engage with and, in the weeks leading up to National Writing Day, the NWD website hosts a number of free resources that schools can use to engage and encourage writers of all ages and abilities.
You can find out more about the day on the National Writing Day website, where you can also download educational resources.
