Men and women of all ages and levels of fitness or ability are invited to come along to one of our Walking Football sessions and take part in a slower version of the beautiful game.
As we get older, many of us will at some point struggle with our balance, strength, stamina and worst of all, our self-esteem and confidence. Walking Football has the potential to have a significant impact on all of these areas by building your muscle strength, improving your core stability and hopefully tackling weight gain. As well as physical health benefits, there are also numerous psychological advantages, such as reduced stress levels despite exercising and working hard.
“Walking Football has been life-changing for me. I still dream of playing for England! It is great comradery and exercise”
Jonathan Sinfield, Stevenage Walking Footballer
Walking Football offers a vast array of health benefits, including:
- Reducing the risk of cardiovascular disease, strokes and type-2 diabetes
- Improving blood pressure and resting heart rate
- Healthy weight loss
- Improved balance
- Lowered cholesterol and blood sugar levels.
Walking Football also provides the more isolated members of the local community the chance to take part and become involved in something they really enjoy whilst making new friends and forming long-lasting relationships, therefore hopefully improving not only their social circle but also their quality of life, which will help them feel included and valued.
You can learn more about Walking Football as well as find a session near you and book a place via our website.
Due to current Government & FA guidance, we can only accept up to 28 participants onto a Walking Football session.
