This summer, Stevenage FC Foundation have partnered with Herts Sports Partnership and Herts Community Foundation to deliver HAPpy camps across Hertfordshire.
The HAPpy Camps which are designed to help tackle holiday hunger and physical inactivity are being run by the Foundation at 15 different venues across the summer. So far Stevenage FC Foundation have offered over 2000 places in Stevenage, North Herts and Welwyn Hatfield. Of those 2000 places already offered, one participant, Mikey Sapsford has particularly reaped the benefits of the programme.
Mikey has been attending one of our HAPpy camps in Stevenage over the last few weeks and has absolutely loved it.
Mikey said “I’ve really enjoyed my time at the camp with coaches, its helped me make new friends and learn new sports. I’ve really enjoyed being able to try new foods.”
Mikey’s Mum added “Unfortunately, due to having medical conditions and ADHD, Mikey often struggles with anxiety and particularly separational anxiety from me.”
“However, since coming to your camps he’s like another child! He is happier, more confident, more willing to try new foods and learn new skills and sports. His anxiety has reduced and there’s now a smile on his face, I am so proud of him and so grateful for the opportunity you have given him.”
Project Lead Luke Wilkins had this to say, “I am incredibly proud of the impact we have had on young Mikey this summer. To hear how much, we have helped him in just a short amount of time really is unbelievable. As coaches we know that every child is unique and require different levels of support, so to be able to make Mikey feel as comfortable as he does when he walks into our camps everyday is something that we should take great pride in.”
We still have plenty of spaces available at our sessions across the summer, if you want to book your child onto one of our sessions then follow the link below.
