Child Safety Week is an annual community education campaign run by the Child Accident Prevention Trust, acting as a catalyst for thousands of safety conversations and activities across the UK. This year, CSW runs from Monday 6th to Sunday 12th June 2022. CAPT work to help families build confidence and skills in managing the real risks to children’s safety. They want children to have the freedom to grow and learn, safe from serious harm.
“95% of all childhood burns and scalds happen at home. Most are caused in the day-to-day situations that many parents don’t anticipate, like children reaching for hot coffee or grabbing hair straighteners”

Accidents can be prevented. The main causes of accidents, especially in young children, include buttons, batteries, grapes, and magnets. It is impossible to stop children from injuring themselves, which is why Child Safety Week aims to increase the awareness amongst parents of how to keep them away from more serious harm. The campaign is not just limited to one week, but it starts the conversation and engages people to think about safety in a different way.
