Stevenage FC Foundation are delighted to publish their 2019/20 Impact Report to showcase the Charity’s achievements in what was a challenging year for so many…
The Report details the work that has been carried out in Stevenage and surrounding towns during the first six months of the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as the six months prior during typical times. During the whole year, the Foundation has engaged with 4,671 local residents with 128,596 engagement hours through its 28 projects, with the Charity interacting with over 2,850 people every single week.
As highlighted on the One Year Anniversary of the Coronavirus Community Careline, the Foundation and Football Club stood shoulder-to-shoulder to meet the needs of our local community from March onwards. Supporting over 70s at risk of isolation, staff at Lister Hospital and working in partnership with other indispensable local organisations in the town, the Careline did its utmost to support the local community with its response to the pandemic.
The Foundation’s CEO, Joe Goude said
“It is very hard to summarise the impact that this past year has had on both our community and the Foundation. It is safe to say that it has been like no other, and has tested the resilience, ability and agility of the Charity to its fullest.
“However, if you speak to anyone that has been involved with us in this past year, they will also say it has been one of the most rewarding. Many of our big plans were curtailed due to the emerging pandemic, projects postponed, sessions cancelled and a clear signal that we all needed to pitch in and support those most in need.
“Throughout this period, our staff and volunteers have been incredible and I have never been more proud of a group of people. Preparing sandwiches, collecting prescriptions, countless hours talking to those that needed a friendly chat and embracing a new way of delivering our services through digital means.
“We head into this post pandemic world with a new normal and the opportunity to use what we have learnt, the new partnerships and connections we have formed to be even further embedded in our community. Most importantly have a greater understanding of how we can work with others to improve local lives”.
To coincide with the launch of the Impact Report, the Foundation have also worked with Hitchin TV to showcase the work the incredible team deliver week in week out in our local community.
The future looks bright for the Foundation too, with a new website launching on Friday 26th March (www.stevenagefcfoundation.com), new ways for local businesses and residents to support the work of the Foundation with the launch of Friends of the Foundation and for individuals to become a patron of the Foundation.
